[Constitution and structure of human tendons]

In this introductory study our actual knowledge on the tendons is resumed and it is pointed out that on the basis of this knowledge no explanation is given as regards the pathomechanism of the "spontaneous" tendon ruptures. The authors' concept on the tendons as motor units is discussed. The examinations are dealt with, by which the authors intend to revise the conventional static tendon model.
