[Rapid gas chromatographic diagnosis of anaerobic infections]

The microbial culture for the isolation and identification of anaerobic causative organisms is very expensive with regard to material and time. By means of the gas-chromatographic proof of short-chain fatty acids in the clinical material within a short time (30-45 minutes) the tentative diagnosis of an anaerobic infection can be made. In the present paper methods and advantages of this kind of determination are described.
