    Area of Science:

    • Neurology
    • Obstetrics
    • Reproductive Medicine

    Background:

    • Pseudotumor cerebri (PTC) is a neurological disorder predominantly affecting women of childbearing age.
    • The condition presents diagnostic and management challenges, particularly concerning pregnancy outcomes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To describe the diagnosis, management, and pregnancy outcomes of women with active pseudotumor cerebri.
    • To evaluate the safety and necessity of pregnancy termination in PTC patients.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective case series of nine women with active pseudotumor cerebri during pregnancy.
    • Review of diagnostic criteria, treatment strategies, and maternal-fetal outcomes.

    Main Results:

    • Detailed case descriptions of diagnosis and management of PTC in pregnancy.
    • Analysis of pregnancy outcomes, indicating successful gestation and delivery are achievable.
    • Pregnancy termination was seldom required, suggesting conservative management is often feasible.

    Conclusions:

    • Pregnancy is not contraindicated in women with pseudotumor cerebri.
    • Effective management strategies allow for favorable pregnancy outcomes.
    • Termination of pregnancy is rarely necessary for pseudotumor cerebri patients.
