    Background:

    • Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a common cardiac condition.

    • The link between MVP and stroke in younger populations requires further investigation.

    Observation:

    • Two patients with confirmed mitral valve prolapse experienced cerebral ischemia.
    • No other significant stroke risk factors were identified in these patients.
    • Cerebral angiography revealed embolic occlusion in one patient and was normal in the other.

    Findings:

    • Mitral valve prolapse is identified as a potential risk factor for stroke in young people.
    • Cerebral angiography is a diagnostic tool for embolic brain lesions.

    Implications:

    • This study suggests that mitral valve prolapse should be considered in the differential diagnosis of stroke in young patients.
    • Two-dimensional echocardiography and angiocardiography are recommended for evaluating young patients with cerebral ischemia and suspected cardiac involvement.
    • Further research is warranted to elucidate the mechanisms linking MVP to ischemic stroke.
