    Background:

    • 12 patients with orbital myositis were studied.
    • Patients were categorized based on symptom onset to treatment duration: acute (<2 weeks) vs. subacute (≥2 months).

    Findings:

    • Acute myositis patients responded rapidly to corticosteroids, with few recurrences.
    • Subacute myositis patients experienced more frequent recurrences and required additional therapies, with some developing motility defects or proptosis.

    Implications:

    • Prompt corticosteroid treatment for orbital myositis is associated with better prognosis.
    • Delayed treatment may result in chronic symptoms and irreversible ocular complications.
