Videotaping to enhance communication about the use of dental materials

Videotape interviews in 23 private dental offices were compiled at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry to enhance communication between academic, clinical and manufacturing personnel regarding the use of dental amalgam. This paper discusses the rationale for videotaping the interviews and the results of the interviews, and comes to some conclusions on how the information gathered may be used to improve teaching and research in dental materials.
