Background:

- Congenitally athymic nude (nu/nu) mice and heterozygous (nu/+) littermates were injected with rabbit anti-rat glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antiserum.
- Glomerular involvement, thrombotic lesions, and immune depositions were assessed.
Main Results:
- Both nu/nu and nu/+ mice developed marked thrombotic lesions and GBM depositions (mouse IgG, IgM, C3, rabbit IgG).
- No significant difference in the extent of glomerular involvement was observed between the two groups.
Conclusions:
- T cell immunodeficiency does not play a role in the development of severe glomerular lesions in this model of murine NTN.
- These findings suggest that T cell-independent mechanisms are critical for severe glomerular injury in NTN.
