    Summary

    Background:

    • Splenectomy, the surgical removal of the spleen, can affect immune function.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the changes in T-lymphocyte numbers and subsets after splenectomy.
    • To compare T-cell profiles in splenectomized individuals with normal controls.

    Main Methods:

    • Assessed T-lymphocyte counts (E rosette positive cells) in peripheral blood.
    • Analyzed the proportions of T-cell subsets (T gamma and T mu cells).
    • Compared findings between 16 splenectomized subjects and non-splenectomized controls.
