[New aspects in infections with herpes-simplex-virus (author's transl)]

The high and increasing incidence of herpes simplex (HSV) diseases has led to increasing research activities at all levels all over the world. Particularly important for clinicians are 1. new aspects of the potential danger for certain patients, e.g. the newborns or the immunosuppressed, by exogenous herpes infections or reactivated latent virus and 2. new epidemiological or diagnostic aspects and 3. the problems with the advances, failure and evaluation of chemo- and immunotherapy.
