Further experiences with the stereoresectoscope: description and clinical use
Abstract:
A binocular stereoresectoscope with a variable ocular distance between 60 and 73 mm., and an objective distance of 2.65 mm. is reported. A transmission factor of 25 leads to an excellent stereoscopic effect. Since it has an outer diameter of 25F this instrument fits the usual norm of resectoscopes. The resection sling revolves around 320 degrees and both oculars, as well as the movements made during resections, remain in a more or less similar plane. Further clinical experience shows that as the physician becomes accustomed to the use of this instrument fusion of the 2 images becomes easier. The ease of orientation afforded by the stereoscopic effect aids in the resection. Despite the complexity of the instrument the resectoscope remains simple to use.
