    Background:

    • The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex plays a crucial role in immune responses.
    • Lymphocytes express various surface receptors involved in cellular interactions and immune recognition.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between HLA determinants and functional receptors on human lymphocytes.
    • To determine the effect of HLA antisera on rosette formation by peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL).

    Main Methods:

    • Testing HLA antisera for their impact on E-, EA-, and EAC'-rosette formation.
    • Utilizing anti-beta2-microglobulin serum for comparison.
    • Employing trypsin treatment to assess the relationship between complement receptors and HLA antigens.

    Main Results:

    • HLA antisera inhibited EAC'-rosette formation but not E-rosette formation.
    • Partial inhibition of EA-rosette formation was observed with HLA antisera.
    • Anti-beta2-microglobulin serum exhibited similar effects to HLA antisera.

    Conclusions:

    • HLA determinants and complement receptors are distinct cell surface entities.
    • EAC' receptors are suggested to be located in close proximity to HLA determinants on lymphocytes.
