Abstract:
The advisability of using cold depends on the character and stage of the pathologic change, the therapist's knowledge of the patient's condition, and an understanding of how cold affects tissues. Cold is simple to use, requires no expensive special equipment, relieves pain, and helps to control acute and chronic stages of inflammation. Combined with other therapeutic procedures, it is a valuable addition to the treatment regimen.
