The psychosomatic interview conference: its effectiveness in teaching medical students
Abstract:
Facilitating students' recognition that emotions play an important role in illness has always been a challenge for medical educators. This paper describes how a psychosomatic interview conference can be effective in introducing students to the importance of psychosocial issues for their medical patients. A case example is given, student resistance to this method is discussed, and the pros and cons of this technique are explored.
