Abstract:
A third series of 55 fractions representing 28 plant species, many reported to be Micmac remedies, was tested as previously described for the presence of alkaloids, sterols, triterpenes, saponins, cardiac glycosides, tannins, polyphenols, flavonoids, leucoanthocyanins, anthraquinone heterosides, and cyanogenic glycosides. The results are tabulated for alkaloids, sterols, triterpenes, leucoanthocyanins, flavonoids and tannins. In addition, seven plants were found to contain saponins, one to contain anthraquinones and five to contain cyanogenic material. No cardiac glycosides were detected.
