    Background:

    • Oesophageal transmural potential difference (TMPD) measurements are utilized for localizing the oesophagogastric mucosal junction (OGMJ) and identifying gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)-induced mucosal damage.
    • Accurate localization of the OGMJ is crucial for diagnosing and managing esophageal conditions.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To confirm the reproducibility of TMPD measurements in identifying the OGMJ.
    • To assess the utility of TMPD measurements in detecting distal esophageal mucosal alterations.

    Main Methods:

    • Transmural potential difference measurements were performed in subjects.
    • Localization of the OGMJ relative to the lower oesophageal sphincter (LOS) was recorded.
    • Reproducibility of measurements was assessed over different days.

    Main Results:

    • TMPD measurements demonstrated reproducible results for identifying the OGMJ.
