Abstract:
Eleven infants were seen longitudinally at one month intervals from six through 11 months of age and administered tasks of recognition memory. The results revealed that the ability to retrieve a memory of an initially unfamiliar event that occurred more than five seconds earlier may be fragile until the child is about 10 months of age.
