    Summary

    H2-antagonists like cimetidine did not prevent swelling after limb injury or burns in rats. Large doses of cimetidine caused a temperature drop, which may explain minor swelling reduction, suggesting H2-receptors are not involved in injury responses.

    Background:

    • Histamine H2-receptors play a role in various physiological processes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of H2-antagonists, metiamide and cimetidine, on edema formation following limb ischemia or scald injury in rats.
