    Summary

    Hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication patterns, marked by DNA polymerase (DNAP) activity, were studied. High DNAP levels correlated with chronic persistent hepatitis, while low levels showed chronic active hepatitis, but neither closely predicted cirrhosis progression.
