    Summary

    Rumen acidosis in heifers induced by saccharose disrupted liver function, affecting excretory and metabolic processes. Liver dysfunction was evident in biochemical changes but showed spontaneous recovery after acidosis symptoms resolved.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of experimentally induced rumen acidosis on liver function in Friesian-Holstein heifers.

    • Induction of rumen acidosis via intraruminal saccharose administration (12 g/kg body weight) in 6 heifers.
    • Monitoring animals for 9 days post-treatment.
