    Summary

    Bacterial endocarditis requiring aortic valve replacement often leads to severe heart failure. Prompt surgical intervention and antibiotic therapy result in excellent short-term outcomes for these patients.

    Background:

    • Patients often present with advanced complications like congestive heart failure and arrhythmias.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the outcomes of valve replacement surgery for native aortic valve bacterial endocarditis.
    • To assess the efficacy of surgical intervention and antibiotic management.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of 14 patients undergoing aortic valve replacement for bacterial endocarditis.
    • Analysis of patient demographics, clinical presentation, pathogens, treatment protocols, and outcomes.

    Main Results:

    • All 14 patients underwent surgery within two weeks of antibiotic therapy initiation, with no operative or early postoperative deaths.
