The similarity between arrested development in parasitic nematodes and diapause in insects
Journal of the South African Veterinary Association
|December 1, 1981
Abstract:
The similarities between arrested development in parasitic nematodes and diapause in insects are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the similarity between arrested development in Haemonchus contortus and diapause in Oestrus ovis in sheep. Factors inducing arrested development and influencing resumed development and measures to control arrested nematodes in ruminants are discussed.
