Abstract:
Diagnostic ultrasound is done by reflected sound waves. The procedure is non-invasive and not dangerous. First it was used in medicine in 1940. Nowadays the technical and diagnostic experience has reached a high standard. Basically there are two display modes: The simple A-mode displays the echo pattern as a vertical deflection on an oscilloscope. With B-mode, the echoes are displayed two-dimensionally as dots according to the acoustic boundaries of the cross section. Especially in urology diagnostic ultrasound is of great help.
