    Summary

    This case study reports the first instance of enflurane-associated hepatitis. Repeated exposure to the anesthetic enflurane led to liver injury in a patient, mimicking halothane hepatitis.

    • Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a significant concern in clinical practice.

    • Halothane hepatitis is a well-documented form of DILI.

    • A 57-year-old female with no prior liver disease history underwent three surgeries within 12 months.
    • Following the second and third surgeries, the patient exhibited systemic symptoms and abnormal liver function tests.
    • These clinical and laboratory findings were reminiscent of halothane hepatitis.

    Findings:

    • A liver biopsy performed after the third enflurane exposure confirmed drug-induced hepatitis.
    • This represents the first documented case linking enflurane exposure to hepatitis.
