The uniqueness of the young athlete: psychologic considerations
Abstract:
Through a review of the major reasons young athletes drop out of sports the basic psychologic needs of youngsters are identified. Although young athletes are not unique in these psychologic needs, each youngster is unique in how these needs are met. The paper concludes by countering some of the negative publicity youth sports program have received.
