Abstract:
The analysis of the factors controlling glucagon release by the isolated perfused canine stomach stresses the importance of a metabolic and hormonal control: stimulation by arginine, hypoglycemia, cytoglycopenia or insulin deprivation, inhibition by glucose in the presence of insulin or by somatostatin. In contrast, the secretion of the canine gastric A-cell does not respond to vagal stimulation or local release of noradrenaline.
