Background:

Conjunctivitis lignosa is a rare, chronic inflammatory condition of the conjunctiva.
Pseudo-membranous necrotizing conjunctivitis presents with severe inflammation and tissue death.

A 57-year-old woman presented with pseudo-membranous necrotizing conjunctivitis.
Biopsy revealed histological changes characteristic of conjunctivitis lignosa.

The conjunctival biopsy showed evidence of vasculitis, vascular occlusions, and vascular necrosis.
These findings suggest a localized conjunctival vasculitis as the underlying cause of conjunctivitis lignosa.
