[Post-traumatic myocardial injuries (author's transl)]

    Summary

Diagnosing post-traumatic myocardial injury is challenging. Elevated creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) and specific ECG findings are sufficient for diagnosis, guiding prognosis and treatment similar to acute myocardial infarction.

    Area of Science:

    • Cardiology
    • Biochemistry

    Background:

    • Myocardial injuries can be difficult to diagnose, leading to potential misdiagnosis.
    • Accurate diagnosis is crucial for appropriate patient management and outcomes.

    Observation:

    • Presents two clinical cases of post-traumatic myocardial injury.
    • Focuses on clinical and biological criteria for diagnosing myocardial injury after trauma.

    Findings:

    • Elevated serum levels of creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) combined with characteristic electrocardiographic (ECG) changes are sufficient for diagnosis.
    • Other diagnostic investigations are less specific and potentially hazardous.

    Implications:

    • Prognosis and therapeutic strategies for post-traumatic myocardial injury mirror those for acute myocardial infarction.
    • Highlights the importance of specific biomarkers and ECG in diagnosing cardiac trauma.
