[Effect of cathionine (alpha-aminopropiophenone) on rat EEG activity]
Abstract:
We have studied the effect induced by the injection of Cathinone (alpha-aminopropiophenone) into the cerebral ventricle. This substance has recently been isolated from the leaves of the Catha Edulis. The chemical structure of Cathinone is similar to that of amphetamine. However, Cathinone does not modify cerebral electric activity in sense of a typical activation seen with amphetamine. Cathinone has evoked, at high doses, seizures comparable to epileptic activity.
