[HEmangiopericytoma of the lung and mediastinum]

An analysis of the literature data and 3 personal author's observations pertinent to hemangiopericytoma of the lung (1) and mediastinum (2) allowed a conclusion to be made that this lesion is rarely encountered and poorly known to medical specialists. These tumors show a benign or malignant course. It is very difficult to diagnose them due to the absence of characteristic features. The tumors are verified histologically. Benign hemangiopericytomas are subject to surgical therapy. In case of their malignant degeneration the operation should be associated with radio- and chemotherapy.
