Abstract:
Benign epithelial tumors and pseudotumors seen in the Department of Pathology, Hospital Central, University of San Luis Potosi School of Medicine are reviewed. A period of 30 years was considered (1950 to 1979). Six cases were found; three of them are illustrated in this work. They appeared in the 7th decade, located in the antrum, and they consisted of mucosecretory elements. A malignant neoplasm was suspected in one case; the patient had acute onset of gastrointestinal bleeding. The other two cases were discovered at autopsy. Etiology is diverse, but it is shrinking the association with atrophy of the gastric mucosa as well as chronic gastritis.
