Context:

Caudal epidural anesthesia is a common regional anesthesia technique in pediatric patients.
This prospective study evaluated its use in children undergoing orthopedic, urologic, and general surgery below the umbilicus.

Purpose:

To assess the safety and efficacy of caudal epidural anesthesia as an adjunct to general anesthesia in pediatric surgery.
To evaluate the analgesic benefits and postoperative outcomes associated with this anesthesia technique.

Summary:

Seventy children received caudal epidural anesthesia following general anesthesia for various surgical procedures.
The technique demonstrated significant postoperative analgesia, even for painful surgeries.
Patients experienced a favorable postoperative status with only minor complications.

The findings support the widespread adoption of caudal epidural anesthesia in pediatric surgical practice.
