From nursing service to professional practice

Tracing the evolution of a professional practice model of nursing care is the focus of this article. Many conditions over the past 10 years have required changes in the way nurses plan and deliver patient care. The way in which proactive strategies were developed and implemented in a large community hospital demonstrates how nurse administrators can build upon current systems.
