Transurethral prostatectomy (TURP) remains standard for benign prostatic hyperplasia, but finasteride offers a safe, endocrinological option. This 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor reduces prostate volume and improves flow rates with fewer side effects than hormonal therapies.
