Laparoscopic gastroenterostomy offers a safe approach for treating duodenal obstruction, particularly for palliation in advanced cancer cases. This minimally invasive technique provides good outcomes for patients with malignant duodenal obstruction.

  • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic gastroenterostomy for duodenal obstruction.

  • Ten patients with duodenal obstruction underwent laparoscopic gastroenterostomy between 1992 and 1994.
  • The primary indication was malignant obstruction (9 patients); one had benign obstruction.
