Background:

International study is a growing trend for healthcare professionals.
Understanding the experiences of nurses studying abroad is crucial for support systems.
Previous research has not fully captured the nuanced journey of Chinese nurses in the US.

Purpose of the Study:

To describe the lived experiences of Chinese nurses pursuing university degrees in the United States.
To explore the challenges and rewards associated with international nursing education.

Main Methods:

An interpretive phenomenological approach was employed.
In-depth interviews were conducted with 23 Chinese nurses in Taiwan who had studied in the US.
Data collection occurred in 1990, capturing a specific historical context.
