In the second of two articles looking at health when travelling abroad, the author explores the hazards of leisure time, the management of illness abroad and looks at communicable diseases and how to prevent them. With malaria prophylaxis and reimbursement of travel vaccines currently under debate, the information in these articles should be of assistance to all nurses when giving advice to those travelling abroad.
