- Multicentric Castleman's disease (MCD) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder.
- MCD is often associated with Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) and human herpesvirus 8 (KSHV).
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the presence of KSHV in MCD patients.
- To determine the role of KSHV in the pathogenesis of MCD, particularly in HIV-infected individuals.

- KSHV DNA was detected in lymph node and peripheral blood samples from 31 MCD patients.
- Samples were analyzed from both HIV-positive and HIV-negative patients.
- Control lymph node samples from HIV-negative patients were also tested.
