Individuals with non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) exhibit elevated plasma lipid hydroperoxides (ROOHs), indicating oxidative stress. This finding suggests NIDDM-associated oxidative stress may be independent of typical metabolic markers.
