Current dangers and problems in the topical use of steroids
The Medical Journal of Australia
|January 31, 1976
Abstract:
The hazards of the topical use of steroids, especially the fluorinated steroids, are reviewed. Attention is drawn, especially to the site of application, the face and flexures. The masking of bacterial and fungal infection by topical corticosteroid preparations is mentioned, as are the possible dangers of using them in skin malignancy. The query is raised as to the value of topical use of antibiotics.
