Abstract:
More people are surviving into old age. General nurses should therefore be prepared to care for increasing numbers of patients with dementia. Nurses must understand the problems of dementia and how these are made worse by hospitalisation. Good care is founded on thorough assessment of the patient's problems, needs and abilities.
