Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of progressive opening-wedge osteotomy for correcting angular deformities in adolescent long bones.

  • 17 adolescent patients with 27 angular deformities underwent percutaneous osteotomy and progressive correction using a modified Wagner distractor.
  • Included were cases of adolescent bilateral idiopathic tibia vara and secondary deformities of the distal femur or tibia.
  • One case involved simultaneous treatment of femoral deformity with limb shortening.
