Abstract:
A collage of eight overlapping themes for the definition of sexuality is presented prior to undertaking a historical overview of the rapid development of the field that began in 1970 as "sex therapy." The limitations of theory, behavioral science, and the art of medicine as they apply to helping people with their sexual concerns are highlighted.
