Life after downsizing: strategies for organizational healing and revitalization
Abstract:
In the midst of mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring, organizations are often resorting to painful cutbacks and downsizing. People at all levels are getting laid off. In many cases, tightening the belt is squeezing the very life out of the organization. Savings are often counterbalanced by the lack of productivity of a depressed and demoralized workforce. A structured intervention that addresses survivor issues is necessary for healing to occur. The future of the organization may depend on it.
