Abstract:
The characteristics of natural killer (NK) cells and their role in immunosurveillance of cancer is reviewed. Evidence derived from in vitro and in vivo experiments is in favor of an important role of NK cells in host resistance to leukemia, as illustrated by studies of untreated patients, patients treated with biological response modifiers and by bone marrow transplantation.
