  • Electronic Engineering

Background:

  • Combinatorial optimization problems with winner-takes-all constraints are often challenging to solve.
  • Existing Potts mean field approaches are limited to unconstrained problems.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To extend the Potts mean field approach for combinatorial optimization problems with additional constraints.
  • To develop a method that guarantees legal local optimum solutions for constrained problems.
  • To evaluate the performance of the extended method on constrained maximum cut problems.

Main Methods:

  • Incorporating Lagrange multipliers as extra variables into the Potts formulation.
  • Solving the extended Potts equations using constrained gradient descent differential systems.
