[Recent progress in the study on chemical constituents of herba Cistanche]

Abstract:
The constituents of Herba Cistanche (C. salsa used in Japan and C. deserticola used in China) are described. The review indicates that some cistanosides are the main active constituents of Herba Cistanche, and may be taken as the guide and precursor compounds for synthesizing new tonic drugs.
