[Function of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-thyroid axis in patients with pulmonary malignancies]

The presented literature on the function of hypothalamo-hypophyseal-thyroid axis in patients with pulmonary malignancies is unequivocal. No clinical manifestations of thyroid dysfunction were observed, however, laboratory investigations have demonstrated significant impairment of the axis function. Most frequently a decrease of T3 concentration with normal TSH level occurred in the serum of patients. Attempts at explanation of the disturbances in hypothalamo-hypophyseal-thyroid axis function are still at hypothesis stage.
