    Background:

    • Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis of the hip are common inflammatory conditions.
    • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are frequently used for pain and inflammation management.
    • Ketoprofen, indomethacin, and phenylbutazone are NSAIDs with established anti-inflammatory properties.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare the efficacy and safety of ketoprofen with indomethacin in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
    • To compare ketoprofen with indomethacin in patients with osteoarthritis of the hip.
    • To compare ketoprofen with phenylbutazone in patients with osteoarthritis of the hip.

    Main Methods:

    • Three double-blind, cross-over studies were conducted.
    • Patients received ketoprofen (100 mg/day or 200 mg/day), indomethacin (100 mg/day), or phenylbutazone (300 mg/day) for four weeks.
