Summary

Men with testicular cancer in one testicle who had a partial removal (orchidectomy) and still want children can still father them. This approach may help preserve fertility in select cases.

Background:

  • Management of testicular cancer often involves orchidectomy.

Observation:

  • A patient with a history of radical orchidectomy on one side underwent a partial orchidectomy for testicular cancer on the remaining solitary testis.
  • The patient subsequently fathered two children, demonstrating preserved fertility.

Findings:

  • Partial orchidectomy of a solitary testis in a patient with testicular cancer can allow for successful conception.
  • Fertility can be maintained even after extensive surgical intervention for testicular malignancy.
