Summary

Positive selection of developing T cells occurs late in thymocyte differentiation, after commitment to the CD8 lineage. This study used transgenic mice to demonstrate that CD8+ T cell development depends on T cell receptor recognition of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules.
